Today was bittersweet. Okay, if I'm being honest, today felt like it was on the verge of heartbreak and devastation.
2020 was supposed to be THE year.
The year I turned 30.
But most importantly, the year that I was finally going to see the pyramids.
You see, right about now we should have been wide-eyed with anticipation of the adventure ahead of us as we boarded an international flight to kickoff the 30th birthday trip I've been dreaming about and slowly planning for years (literally guys, years). Starting in Italy, our itinerary had us meandering our way through the Mediterranean (Croatia, Montenegro and Greece) before ultimately making it to the destination I've fantasized about visiting since I was a girl, Egypt.
Pyramids, Tombs, and Mummies, Oh My! All of it was finally going to be my reality. To say I was on cloud nine as the pieces began falling into place would have been the understatement of the century. How naive I was to what 2020 actually had in store for us.

So I guess you could say this weekend looked a little different than I had imagined. While we might not be getting lost in Rome and spoiling ourselves with gelato, we did indulge in some wood-fired pizza (why did it take me so long to realize cream cheese is a game changer topping), an unacceptable amount of 90 Day Fiancé and a side of pumpkin carving.
Although I have more questions than answers when it comes to how and when we'll find a way to embark on the adventure we had planned due to the pandemic, I won't stop daydreaming about it anytime soon. So don't be surprised if I have Aladdin and The Ten Commandments on repeat for the foreseeable future. They are ultimately the cause of my childhood infatuation with Egypt, so what better way to commemorate the journey that should have been and add a bit more fuel to the fire. In the meantime, here's your friendly reminder to wear a mask, social distance, and do your best to stay home. Let's look out for one another so we can soon adventure together again.
