5 Paris of Shoes Every Girl Needs in Her Closet

August is here, and that means one thing: BACK TO SCHOOL SALES!

To celebrate, I'm breaking down the top 5 pairs of shoes every girl needs in her closet.

#1 Ankle Booties

Gap Black Leather Ankle Booties

Gap

In general, my go to pair of shoes for the last 4 years have been my black leather ankle booties from Gap. This pair is under $100, and if you want to talk about quality, let's just say that I'm impressed how well they have aged while being exposed to ALL the elements. They've been through rainstorms and blizzards and still have more life in them. My only regret is that I didn't buy MULTIPLE PAIRS in various colors when these were first released.

Amazon Ankle Bootie

Amazon

The  past year I've been looking for a good dupe for my Gap booties (because let's face it, they won't last forever!) I took a chance on this pair while browsing on Amazon. I got them for under $20 and didn't have high expectations. WOW, were these boots the steal of the century. They were insanely comfortable from the start, no break in period needed. And I don't have to worry about water damage like I do with my leather booties.

#2 Wear Everywhere Fashion Sneakers

Le Coq Sportif Sneakers

Le Coq Sportif

Promise me that you won't judge me based on my next confession. Seriously, pinky promise?

My favorite pair of sneaks date back to my HIGH SCHOOL years. NO JOKE! I picked up a pair of Le Coq Sportif sneakers when I was going into my freshman year mainly because I thought it was cool that they had a rooster on them. Fast forward to my post college days, and these shoes are still a staple in my weekly wardrobe. Talk about longevity! While I can't expect them to still be selling the same exact shoe 10+ years later, the above option is really similar and under $75.

Adidas Hologram Superstar Sneakers

Adidas

I think my one regret from my time in France was not snatching up a pair of Adidas Superstars. Not only am I obsessed with this major 90s kid comeback, but I'm also slightly transfixed by their shiny, color-changing appearance. Unfortunately, for some reason, the hologram/iridescent options just don't look the same in the states. I've been toying with doing a custom pair online. Maybe an early birthday present for myself?

#3 Simple Sandals

Target Black Strappy Leather Sandal

Target

I had a pair of black, strappy gladiators from DSW that I wore (and loved) for years. They finally bit the dust last fall when the top literally detached from the sole (while I was walking, it was quite the scene). I spent MONTHS searching for a replacement and was about to give up when I came across this pair from Target. Usually I shy away from any type of sandal that has a leather strap over my toes #BlisterCentral, but these were comfortable from the start and are under $25. Would highly recommend!

Dolce Vita Zip Back Sandals

Dolce Vita

One thing almost all my sandals have in common is a zip back. So much easier to deal with than buckles! I have these Dolce Vita sandals in both white and nude. They are so simple, and I love that I can pair them with literally any outfit.

#4 Flats

Adam Tucker Me Too Flats

Adam Tucker: Me Too

I could live in these Adam Tucker: Me Too flats. They are so breathable and feel almost weightless, I basically feel like I am wearing slippers. They are versatile enough that they can be dressed down with skinny jeans and a tee as easily as they can be paired with a cute summer dress. Let's just say my mom was instantly jealous when she saw me wearing these and ordered a pair for herself the same day.

Frye Melanie Slip On

Frye

If you are willing to shell out the big bucks, these leather Melanie flats from Frye are to die for. The leather quality is spot on, so they instantly feel like a second skin. They are lightweight and have a flexible sole, so they are great for everyday wear.

#5 Cut-Out Booties

Target Wenda Cut Out Ankle Bootie

Target

You know those shoes you see everyone wearing that you mindlessly drool over but wont allow yourself to buy? Yea, for me, those were the Free People Royal Flats. I just couldn't bring myself to spend $200 on a pair of shoes. My jaw literally hit the floor when I saw that Target had a $30 dupe. I scooped up a pair instantly and haven't regretted it. Although the heel area is a little stiff in the beginning, they have broken in really nicely. I'd recommend wearing a thin pair of socks with these around the house to speed up the breaking in process.

Free People Royal Flat

Free People

No explanation needed. These are the shoes that sent me down the dupe rabbit hole. Oh Free People how I love you and hate you all at once.
