ABOUT

Hello friends!

I am Danielle, a twentysomething based out of Lincoln, Nebraska and the creative mind behind Trendy Tall Girl.

Remember that knobby-kneed, gap-toothed girl who was a head taller than all her classmates (and who may or may not have had a mullet…thanks for that one mom)? You guessed it. That self-conscious and super shy little girl was me (seriously though, my go-to icebreaker used to be talking about my

cat….can a 6-year-old qualify as a crazy cat lady?). However, things really started to click for me when I stumbled (quite literally) into a dance class at my local YMCA.

That single class quickly upended life as I knew it and introduced me to the world of competitive dance (and more hairspray, glitter and plantar warts than any human should ever endure) and slowly, over time dance competitions transitioned to pageants and modeling.

For me, the single thread the unified all these interests was fashion. Growing up, I was the dress-up diva. I had a whole closet in our spare bedroom dedicated to my "pretty dress-up clothes." One day I'd be a princess, the next a teacher, and if I was feeling especially daring, I'd slip on

For me, fashion has always been transformative.

my little black dress, and voila, I'd become Posh Spice  (what can

I say, I was a very sophisticated 6-year-old). I guess you could say I've always been enamored by the stories we could convey by simply donning a piece of fabric. For me, fashion has always been transformative.

As I've gotten older, I've also come to realize that my favorite pieces in my closet are more than just "clothes." They tell snippets of my life story. The shirt I had to frantically run across LA for for my America's Next Top Model callback, yep, that's still tucked in my closet.  The dress I wore to my interview at Harper's Bazaar, yep, still got it. The overly basic "I heart Paris" shirt I bought at the base of the Eiffel Tower, you bet I still have it!

This might sound odd, but for me, walking into my closet is a lot like opening a photo album. I get this sweet sense of nostalgia from gently running my fingers over the fabric as I pick what I'm going to wear for the day. It's such a simple act, but it's one of the most profound ways for me to reconnect with some of my happiest memories.

Walking into my closet is a lot like opening a photo album.

What initially began as a passion for fashion has slowly transformed into something so much more meaningful, the threads of our own lives and the stories they weave together. So that's my hope for Trendy Tall Girl. A platform that I can use to further weave my story.

 So here it goes!

Much Love,

Danielle
